Q: Should I choose loop or plush carpeting? What's the difference between the two?
A: Loop pile carpeting is great for the high traffic areas of your home. They tend to be easier to clean, and they maintain well with young kids, as well as pets. Loop pile carpets are made using a series of uncut loops, which are created using a weaving machine.
Plush is a wonderful choice for your bedroom, or any room in your home where you're looking to achieve an elegant look. Keep in mind, it's better suited for areas of little traffic. Plush is usually smooth but dense carpeting, in which individual tufts are only minimally visible, and the overall look is a single surface of fiber ends.
Q: Is it "good design" to put an area rug over carpet?
A: "Good design" is really all in the eye of the beholder, but yes, we would recommend doing this. The right pattern and style can create a "wow" factor that can bring your room to the next level. If you have any specific design questions, don't hesitate to ask one of our carpet design specialists.
Q: How long will it take to have my carpet installed?
A: It really depends on the type of carpet you've chosen, and how your home is laid out, but on average we can lay 15 to 20 yards of carpeting and padding in an hour. Although efficiency is very important to us, we also want to take our time to ensure the best possible result for your home.
Q: I don't like the smell of my new carpet. What can I do about it?
A: The odor will subside in about a week, but if you really can't stand it, ventilate your home as much as possible. Open your windows, and use fans to keep air circulating during the installation, and for a few days after.
Q: My new carpet is shedding! What's that about?
A: Most carpets retain some fibers shortly after they leave the factory or showroom. These fibers often look like balls of fluff on the surface of your carpet, or in your vacuum. Over time, they will work themselves out, and the shedding will subside.
Q: Why does my carpet seem to change color when I look at it from different directions? Did I accidentally choose a carpet with multiple shades!?
A: No, this is just light reflecting as the carpet pile is pushed in different directions. The vacuum cleaner and foot traffic are common causes of this. Don't worry, your carpet is a solid color.
